Hi Seattle! Sam here. Our City Cast Neighbors swag closet has some extra goodies in the form of 🥁… Seattle pennants! We want to find them good homes with new members! So if that’s you, click here to sign up. You’ll also get access to perks that really make you feel like you live here on purpose (just like the pennant says).

What's CITY Talking About

Where Guy Fieri Should Eat According to Our Team
Television host and restaurateur Guy Fieri is back in Seattle to film for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. This time he’s been spotted at Local Tide and Lupe’s Situ Tacos with his red Chevy Camaro convertible parked out front of the restaurants in Fremont and Ballard. This is his eighth visit to film here during the show’s 55 season run. [My Northwest]
- Fieri has previously featured 12 local restaurants: Our last visit from Flavortown was in 2018 during the show’s 28th season which featured Wood Shop BBQ, Sisters and Brothers, Pinoyshki Bakery & Cafe, and Bok a Bok. Previous season features include the classics Voula’s Offshore Cafe, Mike’s Chili Parlor, Bizzarro Italian Cafe, and Pam’s Trinidadian Caribbean Kitchen. [FlavortownUSA]
- Where should Guy Fieri go next? We put this question to our team and here’s what everyone had to say. Ben suggests Secret Congee, Spice Waala, and Mekong Village. Liam says Sake Noire and Hilltop Ale House. Marcus says Stonehouse Cafe and Salima Specialties in Skyway. And I would humbly add The Boat, Kin Len Thai Night Bites, and Island Soul.
- Tune in for the full discussion: Jane is out on a much-deserved vacation this week, so we’re treating listeners to the dulcet tones of contributor Marcus Harrison Green. Marcus will be hosting the show all week. To hear more suggestions from Marcus, contributor Chase Hutchinson and myself tune in to the full podcast episode:

What Seattle’s Talking About
🧑🏻⚖️ Supreme Court could overturn ban on semiautomatic rifles: The U.S. Supreme Court announced it will hear a case next term (2027) consolidating two legal challenges to semiautomatic rifle bans. If the court follows its precedent of loosening firearm regulations, it could invalidate the 2023 ban passed by Washington lawmakers. Check out this profile of the Bellevue man behind these two cases, who for some reason is dressed like Colonel Sanders. [Seattle Times]
🎷 New director seeks to bridge generational divide: Now in its 38th year, Earshot Jazz Festival’s new Executive Director Dr. Stephan Blanford is hoping to bridge the gap between jazz’s 65+ crowd and the younger “musical omnivores” keeping the genre alive. The fall line up includes quite a few headline names as well as local artists like Sidney Hauser, Ahamefule J. Oluo, Jun Iida, Carmen Staaf, and Ted Poor. [Seattle Medium]

🚌 More bus service coming soon: After holding off for the World Cup, King County Metro will begin to implement adjustments to increase access to light rail stations at the end of August. Eight existing bus routes will be retired, eight new ones will replace those routes along with two new Metro Flex zones. Metro is adding more than 3,000 bus trips every week compared to current service. Metro has all the details on each route here. [The Urbanist]
