🏢 Does everyone have a second job now?
November 25, 2025
Happy Tuesday, Seattle! Liam here. I have an important question: do you close your blinds at night? I’m not too bothered about it, but City Cast Executive Producer Ashley Smith loves an open blind!

What's DC Talking About

How Many Jobs Do You Have, Seattle?
Living in Seattle isn’t cheap. Just last week, we highlighted an article about how a single person needs to make $135K to live comfortably. That’s why lots of Seattleites have two jobs. But two-job living can be tricky for low earners owing to long-standing regulations that are slowly being unwound. [Seattle Times]
- Moonlight Bans Ruled Unreasonable: In January, the WA Supreme Court loosened the bans on moonlighting, saying that a total ban on employees working, directly or indirectly, for a competitor was too broad.
- Lawsuits Filed Against Bigger Companies: Dozens of lawsuits have been filed against many of WA’s largest employers over the right to moonlight. The list includes Amazon, Alaska Airlines, Costco, and more. The goal is to help economic mobility, especially for those who make the least.
- Juggling Jobs Isn’t Limited To Low Earners: The high cost of rent or mortgages, childcare, and flexibility are leading people across all income levels to seek additional forms of income to meet the demands of living in a place like Seattle. Self-employment is growing consistently, and some prefer multiple jobs to just working one. [Seattle Times]

South Park - Do You Smell That? 👃
Residents of South Park have been complaining of a terrible smell similar to sulfur or rotten eggs. It is causing headaches and itchy eyes. The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency has identified the smell as hydrogen sulfide, which can cause irritation at low levels and much more serious symptoms at higher levels. [Seattle Times]

In fact, he just set a Seahawks single-season receiving yards record, impressing not just his own team’s fans, but the NFL as a whole! [Seattle Times]
